Why Are We Doing This
About 8DoC
Originally born out of a desire to create art, a group of Israelis, South Africans and Europeans started planning to bring a large art piece to one of South Africa’s biggest cultural celebrations, Afrikaburn.
The events of October 7th and the conflict that it sparked in the Middle East has sent shock waves throughout the Western and Arab world. It was a big question mark on if this project could happen anymore.
Perhaps it is not the right time…
But, when would be a more needed time to promote unity and peace than a time of extreme division and conflict?

We have a diverse team of creatives from 3 different continents, and we are working to expand our team even further.. The intention is to bring on board not only members within our network, but to branch out and include as many different people from as many different backgrounds as possible.
By doing this, we want to spread a very simple message:
That we are all people. It doesn’t matter where you are from, what your religion is or what language you speak, we can dance, create, play and live together in peace.
What Are We Doing

“Unity and Peace” is our collective’s guiding motto and narrative. In these challenging times, our hope is to embody the actions of co-creation, collaboration and creativity.
Our aim is not simply to create art, but to share and spread the message of what we represent, and want to see in the world.
Our art structure is also a reflection of this year's theme - 'Creation,’ This is represented through the beautiful and cyclical nature of a woman bringing forth new life.
The woman’s hands placed atop her belly symbolize togetherness, as we are all one, connected by the universal force of love. Just like how a woman nurtures a new life within her womb, our structure will showcase the power that creativity, unity and harmony can spark.

By portraying the image of the ‘birth giving arena,’ a neutral background for all humans to find a place of
belonging in is being symbolised.
We plan to build a +/- 8 meter diameter dome, representing the womb, where we all come from, and our Earth, our shared home.
This is highlighted by Art, workshops, rituals, performances, DJ’s, and dancers. Providing a space for sharing and co-creation, underneath
the desert sky, framed by the legs of a woman.
For the cosmic adventurers who wish to delve deeper, they can enter the vortex of love, through the sacred yoni, into the womb.
The ultimate space of creation. Adorned to provide the utmost comfort with warm colours and fabrics. Cozy corners and inviting hammocks also provide a place for rest and activities, as well as to cultivate inner growth.
Offerings
Our space will serve as a place to remind people of their childlike, vibrant state of being.
Here, all are welcomed with open arms, embraced by the warmth of acceptance, equality and humanity, as
we share the magic of Unity and Peace through music, art, and healing.
We seek to celebrate with intention, weaving a tapestry of
safety and comfort that nourishes the soul. The air will come
alive with the enchanting melodies of our incredible musicians
and DJs.
With workshops that ignite the mind and performers that stir
the heart, come bask in the radiance of this mystical space and
allow your spirit to be re-born.

We are not here to say that one nation is right and the other is wrong, that is not the side we are choosing.
But we are choosing a side. We choose the side of peace and unity. Not division and conflict.
